Ethiopian Jews – Dear God: I pray for Your Blessings over the Ethiopian Jews, in the name of Jesus Christ, The Messiah...
Dear God: The Holy Trinity, thank You for using my son, Latif, to enlighten me to a greater level to pursue; knowledge, wisdom and understanding on this subject matter.
Thank You God that I am Your vessel, as an Ambassador for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, being used by the summoning of the Holy Spirit to travail and intercede in prayer for our Jewish Ethiopian brothers and sisters through Christ Jesus.
On a Personal Note
For the record, I often wondered about the grapevines that Jewish people disliked and/ or was prejudice against Black people on the premise that my Black ancestors has a lot in common with the (white) Jewish people. I put emphasis on “White Jewish” people because until my walk with You (God) and reading the bible, I had no knowledge of “Black Jews”.
The common factor is as follows: both were hated because of their race, both were abused: physically, mentally and emotionally by extreme measures of torment and brutality, both are wanted to be exiled from this earth.
My ancestors, of Black descendant were taken from their African homelands and sold into slavery. Separated on many occasions from their loved ones, had their children stripped from them and sold again to other slave owners. The women were used as sexual predators, in some instances even the black men were used by white women for sexual satisfaction. If children were the result of these heinous acts, they were either sold, abused or killed.
Let’s revisit the Holocaust of the White Jewish people during the days of the anti-Christ Hitler a heinous act of torment and abuse just as unimaginable, degrading and humiliating.
And still to this very day these acts of racism and antisemitism still exist.
So, this is my reasoning for saying that the Jewish people and Black people have common grounds.
Moving On
I sometimes think about the days of the wilderness in the Old Testament Era, a journey that should have taken 11 days yet ultimately took 40 years for them to get to the promise land.
Deuteronomy 8:1-5 (NKJV)
Remember the Lord Your God
8 “Every commandment which I command you today you must [a]be careful to observe, that you may live and multiply,[b] and go in and possess the land of which the Lord [c]swore to your fathers. 2 And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. 3 So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. 4 Your garments did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years. 5 You should [d]know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the Lord your God chastens you.
Noteworthy: The Old Testament Era is viewed as God’s Word Concealed, The New Testament Era is viewed as God’s Word Revealed. A Divine Revelation!
Moving On
However, I GET IT! Time and time again You (God) kept showing them what you were capable of doing for Your people, those led by Moses (Your Chosen One) and still they rebelled and worshipped other Gods.
Thank You for that Revelation as well, You are an Amazing Heavenly Father and I love You to the moon and back! You sacrificed Your Only Begotten Son for us thus giving us direct access to You via the Holy Spirit. You have the means to manifest Yourself within us via the Holy Spirit!
And, Lord Jesus Christ is evident of You availing Yourself to walk among us on this earth in the flesh. The veil has been torn, we can now worship You in truth – Spirit to Spirit, available “only” to all who believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah “and being baptized in the Holy Spirit” an act that only Jesus Christ can conduct in a Supernatural means. HALLELUJAH! Read the Books of Acts for the Supernatural Means of God!

Ethiopian Jews, also known as Beta Israel, claim descent from the Tribe of Dan, whose members migrated south along with members of the tribes of Gad, Asher, and Naphtali, into the Kingdom of Kush, now Ethiopia and Sudan, during the destruction of the First Temple.

The reality of racism
Approximately 140,000 Ethiopian Jewish people live in Israel today, about a third of whom were born in Israel. The majority came in the massive airlifting operations of 1985 and 1991 – Operation Moses and Operation Solomon – helping them to “Make Aliyah” (return to Israel) collectively in the thousands. However, the culture shock and transition has proved extremely challenging, exacerbated by the racism they have been subjected to when they finally made to Israel. There have been some significant problems such as poverty and unemployment among many Ethiopian families and communities as a result. The truth is that the blight of racism is an inescapable fact for the Africans who make it to Israel, whether they are Jewish or not. It affects Jews and non-Jews, asylum seekers and Israeli citizens, Messianics and atheists alike.
On arrival to Israel many have found the rabbinic Judaism that most follow in Israel today rather alien to their own practices. Not only is the expression of Judaism different, but the whole way of life in Israel is different, the culture is different, the language is different, and the values of the society are different. The landing can be rough, and many have come with nothing at all, some even making the journey by foot. Yet it should be a source of pride that against all the odds, and despite multiple hurdles, barriers and obstacles, Ethiopian Jews are now finding places of significance in Israeli society – lawyers, teachers, police officers, doctors and recently a pilot. Those who experience racism know that these achievements are hard fought for, and worthy of celebration.

There are many Ethiopian Jews who believe in Yeshua here in Israel. We have Messianic Ethiopian staff and students here at Israel College of the Bible, and there are Messianic Ethiopian ministries and congregations operating in the Amharic language, running some great outreach programs and initiatives designed to meet the specific needs of the community.
Additionally, younger Ethiopian Israelis who do not know about Yeshua are hearing the gospel from Messianic believers around them in society – especially in the army. Many younger believers in Israel are emboldened now to share their faith without shame, wherever they may be – in the army, at work, school, or wherever. And people are responding, including some in the Ethiopian community.
Like the journey from Ethiopia to Israel, the journey to integrate into Israeli society has been long and hard. However, the younger generation are seeming to navigate their way more successfully than the older generations who came such a distance both physically and culturally. A great emphasis is being placed on education for the younger generation, as a key to succeed and find their place in Israel. We are glad to be contributing towards that important goal as the Ethiopian students at our Bible college become proficient in their study of the Bible, and equipped to lead and teach others.

The World Jewish Community
Halevy’s student, Jaques Faitlovitch, was the first Jewish foreigner to work in earnest on improving conditions for the Ethiopian Jewish community. Arriving for his first visit in 1904 and returning several times in subsequent years, Faitlovitch created tiny schools in Addis Ababa for Beta Israel members, hand-picked 25 young leaders for education abroad, and acted as an emissary on behalf of the world Jewish community.
Faitlovich secured two letters from rabbis abroad acknowledging the Beta Israel as fellow Jews. The first letter, written in 1906, called the Beta Israel “our brethren, sons of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who dwell in Abyssinia” and “our flesh and blood.” The letter, which promised to help the community in its religious education, was signed by 44 world Jewish leaders including the chief rabbis of London and Vienna and the Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem.
The second letter, from 1921, was written by Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook, the revered Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi of Palestine. He called on the Jewish people worldwide to save the Beta Israel — “50,000 holy souls of the house of Israel” — from “extinction and contamination.”
Faitlovich’s work on behalf of the Beta Israel community came to a dramatic halt with the Italian invasion of Ethiopia in 1935-6. Under fascist rule, it became forbidden to practice Judaism in Ethiopia.
Numbers 12:1-6 (NKJV)
Dissension of Aaron and Miriam
12 Then Miriam and Aaron [a]spoke against Moses because of the [b]Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman. 2 So they said, “Has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?” And the Lord heard it. 3 (Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.)
4 Suddenly the Lord said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, “Come out, you three, to the tabernacle of meeting!” So the three came out. 5 Then the Lord came down in the pillar of cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam. And they both went forward. 6 Then He said, …
Numbers 12: 9-13
9 So the anger of the Lord was aroused against them, and He departed. 10 And when the cloud departed from above the tabernacle, suddenly Miriam became leprous, as white as snow. Then Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, a leper. 11 So Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord! Please do not lay [e]this sin on us, in which we have done foolishly and in which we have sinned. 12 Please do not let her be as one dead, whose flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s womb!”
13 So Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “Please heal her, O God, I pray!”…
Being in the Know
I applaud the movie “The Red Sea Diving Resort” see info below: on the premise that it gives me even greater insight on the existence of Ethiopian Jews. There are mixed views from critics on the fact that it lacks details on the Ethiopian Jews and their true struggles during this smuggling event; however, the positive, for me, is the fact that this knowledge is being presented to us in this day and age when evidence of the return of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, is upon us. And the fact that there is limited teachings on Ethiopian Jews.

My Prayer
Dear God, I pray that those who read this blog message are blessed with the knowledge of knowing that according to Your Word, You will bless those who bless the Jewish People and curse those who do not! Applied knowledge is powerful and God Your Word says that many will perish from lack of knowledge, according to the book of Hosea. You tell us to lean not on our own understanding, according to the book of Proverbs. God, I thank You that You loose Your Holy Angels to go out and encamp and minister and protect all those whom I intercede and travail in prayer for. Many of them need healing: Spiritual healing, Soul healing, Physical Healing and Mental Healing. Thank You for Your Supernatural Divine Intervention in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, of Nazareth, The Messiah.
